Three Projects to talk about

Max In The Adirondacks has returned to my attention. That is part of a radio in the picture. I find this stitching quite the challenge. I am also testing out some new laying tools while I work on this. It makes for some challenges.
Meanwhile the little Mouse is ready to hide in the owl. Just Nan's Minerva's Mouse. This was such a quick stitch.
Blackbird Designs - Breath of Spring. It isn't much of a start but it is a start. This was the kit of the month with Shakespeare's Peddler. Overdyed floss is used and this should be very cute.

Very Good Day

I have another finish!!! This is the little mouse for the Just Nan bird. It should work up quickly.
This is why I am late posting this evening. We went for a boat ride on Lake George. It was a great time with wonderful people. What a great way to end the day.
Meanwhile before the boat ride I did get the latest humbug stitched up.

Busy Holiday at my house - -

This is the start of Just Nan's little Mouse (I will have the official name in the future). It is a great start and almost half done.
Baby Trey was here for a visit. He is a very happy, calm, pleasant baby. We had fun. This is my great, great nephew. Trey is almost seven months old and came for a visit with his Grandma And Grandpa.
This is done. The Three Voilets are completed. I need to do the final finishing to make it a humbug. May be tomorrow.... I love the beads.

I tried so hard to finish but it is not going to happen

First let's check out the front garden. The colors are fantastic. The light pink is great and so is the deep purple/red. I love it all. The peonies are going to be huge. Next week perhaps?
We have violets. Now I am working on the upper border. The it is beads, backstitch and border. Another humbug is almost done.

Oh My - and now there are three

The flowers out front are wonderful. I am not sure that this photo captures the true colors but just believe me - - they are so very pretty. I took the photo last night before the big storm. I was afraid the rough weather would 'take them away'. They are still there this morning and I just love seeing them.
Now we have three bunnies and two chicks. They even have eyes now. There is greenery in the background and some other things that I am not sure what they are. LOL. We will find out together over the next few days.

I hope all my followers have a great holiday weekend. Please take a few moments to remember the reason for the holiday.

Bunny Bottoms

I have the bottoms of two more bunnies. I think the yellow is chicks. I really didn't get to stitch very much today. The windows are all washed. The pictures are all hung up. I can now take a moment and find the dining room and the spare room closet. This move is just about done. I am a happy camper with that news. We have tornado watches out for our area. It is terrible what has happened in the Midwest. I hope and pray that everyone remains safe.

Blooms, Surprises and Stitching

Hi All, It has been a thrilling day. I saw a deer today!!!! It was lunch time and we were in the kitchen. I looked out and a deer was moving just behind the trees at the fire pit. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY!!! So many people have said to watch early morning and at dusk and here it was right in the middle of the day. I was thrilled.Meanwhile the flowers are in bloom out front. I have done nothing except take pictures so far. I love the pink and deep red I am seeing.
My knee has me sitting down for most of the day. My knee is so happy that I took a day off and my stitching shows that I have made some progress. It is all good.
The deer haven't found the hostas yet. We were warned that they usually eat the plants but perhaps we are out and about too much and they are staying away from the plants. We will see as the days go forward.

Here comes bunny

Just Nan's 3 Voilets Humbug has begun. It is stitched on a blue sparkly fabric that I will be cussing for days to come. It is hard to see where to stitch with this fabric. I am using a magnifier just because of the type of fabric, not the size or count.

Bringing Home the Tree - Done

It is done!! Borders are difficult and I was cussing this one by the time I was done with it. I like it now that it is there but geez it wasn't a lot of fun to stitch. What to stitch on next?

It was a difficult day - -

It was a busy day celebrating the 'baby' of the family turning 50. That was good stuff. In the back of my mind, all day, I was remembering one year ago when I lost my sister. That made for a difficult day. When I got home this afternoon, I did spend some time stitching. the center of this design is complete. The border might be optional. I am working on it but I am not sure how much it is adding to the design. Perhaps today is not the day to make such decisions.

Two quick finishes and another humbug -

Faithworks? designed these two little pieces. I was looking for some quick and easy things to do at the first meeting of Adirondack Crafters lunch today. The first is a scissors fob and the other is a pin cushion to fit in a tiny basket. I did get them both done today. The meeting was great and we hope to get together again soon.
This morning I put together the latest humbug. I love the fancy little pin to stick in the top. This was a fun one.

LHN - Bringing Home The Tree

I started a new ornament. I think I made great progress on this while taking care of the housework. I am getting tired of white but it is almost done......

A view out my front door and a finish!!!

I decided to step out my front door and take a few photos. The hostos (?) are growing like crazy with all the rain. The grass is so green. Welcome to my home......
The penosies (?) are growing up along with all the rest of the greenery in my front garden. (Get Me - "front garden". Those that know me, know that I have a black thumb.......LOL).
I finished it!!! Autumn Glory by Just Nan. It is ready for the last bit of finishing to make it into a humbug. Maybe tomorrow.

Discorveries and some stitching -

My sister asked that I go with her to help clean out my Aunt's house. While she was discussing things with the caretaker, I did some poking around. I found this tablecloth. Do you remember chicken scratch? I am not sure if my Aunt made this but it looks just fine on my kitchen table.
I finished the crows, did the acorns and whatever that other things are (leaves?), the verse is stitched. The last part is the apples (?) at the bottom. After that I will do the back stitching and add some beads. Then this will be done and another humbug is born.

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Very little stitching happened today

I filled in the autumn leaves and worked on the little crows., It isn't much but I did get to stitch a bit.

A Busy Stitching Day

The Autumn Glory has a bit more done now. I just love the colors.

Then I did the work on 'finishing' the Summer Wings project. Here is the humbug. I put a ribbon on it so I can hang it as an ornament.
I also started on Max. I believe this is the beginning of an old radio. So far I am doing half stitches with four strands. It is a great time to test out some new laying tools.

Done - A New One - No Max

I finished this late last night. Beads are one, the outlining and back stitching is done. I need to take a few moments and put it all together. It is a very pretty design.
Then today - I started Autumn Glory. It is another humbug by Just Nan. These are projects that I put aside to work on during the move. I could have started Max today but this was calling my name and there was a Matlock marathon on TV. The rain is boring and I just want to enjoy my stitching. I love these colors.

Almost Done and About to Start

This is Just Nan's Summer Wings. The cross stitch is done. I need beads, back stitching and a bit of outlining. Then you do a quick whip stitch, a bit of fluff and we will have a humbug.
Meanwhile I have been excited about starting a very large project. This is a Dimensions kit called Max In The Adirondacks. Charles Wysocki is the artist. I love his work. It seems fitting that I start this one. I already have Maggie the Messmaker in my craft room. I plan to work on this with the floor stand in my new craft room. I don't know if I will only work on this one or not. It is ready to go. It amazes me how many hours it can take just to get a project ready to go. I have to admit that part is not my favorite. Especially with kits.

We have a visitor - -

Meet Alfred. At least that is what I plan to call him. He is big. He takes up most of the spare room bed. We have company right now so he has to wait it out in the craft room. He is only here for a visit and will have to eventually return home. For now and perhaps when things are quiet around here, expect to see more Alfred sitings.

JN - Summer Wings Continues

I did some flowers today. The flowers don't show up very well but they are there. I love the colors on this project.
Today we hung up the Blue Bird Quilt. This came from PG Peddler's Etsy Shop. The quilt rack was made by Buddy for Mother's Day. My house continues to get done.

Just Nan - Summer Wings

I have almost finished the third (and final) butterfly. I was hoping to get more done today but the weather was wonderful and we went for a nice ride. The lake was rough looking but I still love to look at it. I do have to get in the practice of taking my camera with me when I leave the house. When we returned I even spent some time on the back porch. Spring is here and I am very happy about it.

Thank you to all those that sent me information on what my plants are. Thank you for all the suggestions and such. The purple flowers are Grape Hyacinth and the stalks are peonies.

Spring is here and I had time to stitch.

This is the little garden at the front door. Those purple sprouts in the front of this picture seem to grow inches every day. I wonder how tall that plant will get.
Just Nan's Summer Wings humbug. I did quite a bit on this project today.
Around the corner, by the garage is these purple flowers. I am thrilled but I have no clue what they are. I also see a voilet and a bleeding heart plant. It is fun to walk around to see what is growing out there.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!!

First I have to say that I am the luckiest Mom in the world to have my craft room. It is just so wonderful. I have already spent hours of enjoyment in that room. I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful son who built it for me. Today my son came for a visit. He brought several more gifts for me. He made another quilt rack wall hanger for me. This one is light colored wood and has purple flowers appliqued on it. This is the detail of the flowers.
Here is the whole rack. Of course, I have to put this one in the craft room and the other one will move to the bed room to hold a quilt on the wall. This one is so special. He also brought me a bottle of maple syrup that he and several friends get together and make. Wow - I am so lucky.
When things calmed down a bit this afternoon, I finished Tuesday morning and did the last few stitches on Friday night. (It was waiting for more Frog Legs floss from the designer - thank you.) Next on the stretcher bars is a Just Nan Humbug called Summer Wings.

It has been a busy day!

The new glider rocker and ottoman has arrived!! I spent part of the afternoon sitting there and doing a bit of finishing.
Here is the final project. The scissors fob, thread tag and biscornu were all done today. The needle book was also completed. It is sitting on the ottoman.
I also did a bit of cross stitch. I am finding that I need to do cross stitch early in the day to get any done at all. This project is almost done. The missing floss (frog legs) arrived so I can also do the last of Friday night.

I am working on a new finish and my current project.

Well these photos are backwards. This is what I accomplished 'in my room' today. Sue Hillis' So Sweet for a Whitman candy tin.
Here is the stuff I started with. The stitching was done while I was still in Missouri. Now I can try to put it all together.
I did a bit on my stitching project. We had a bit of a plumbing disaster today so I was quite distracted. Hopefully that is all taken care of now, clean up has been done and we can resume normal life. Let's hope tomorrow is a better day.
