Another Cherished Stitches Done!

I started this project this week and now it is ready for finishing.  Rites of Spring it is called.  It was good to be stitching and to finish the project.  Now I have moved back to the Christmas afghan.

A 'Finishing Day'

This is a Just Nan project.  I don't remember the name but it is appropriate for Valentine's day so it will greet my guests as they enter my house.

I put the backing on this and did the fringe to finish off the Red Tulip Mat by Nordic Needle.  Perhaps the kitchen table needs a bit of color.

Oh this one!  This has been stitched for For - ever!  I am not sure what to do with this one but it is so cute.  I am thinking of a tooth fairy purse?  I will just enjoy seeing it for now.  Jack thought some glitter inside would be great but I really don't feel like cleaning up glitter on a regular basis.

This is the Rites of Autumn?  by Cherished Stitches.  I am currently working on it's spring brother.  It makes into a small pillow and very pretty.  Sometimes I really wish I liked samplers better.

One Done - Finishing and a Big Picture

I did get the purple elephant done!  Very cute.  Now it just needs the name and a frame.

With this done, I was free to spend some time in my craft room.  It was time to do the finishing on the Victorian Pin Cushion.  I spent most of the day working on this.  It may not be perfect but it is mine!

Several people have asked me to post a 'big picture' of the afghan that I have been working on.  This is Stoney Creek's Christmas Village.

This afternoon I worked on yet another project.  This is Cherished Stitches Rites of Spring.  Perhaps it is wishful thinking.  Snow and cold continue in my neck of the woods.  I do get to watch the deer and turkeys as they look for food.

Almost done with another!

I became a stitching crazy person last night and for most of today.  While I had a cyber class on stitching to listen today, I was busy stitching away on this little purple elephant.  I still have some back stitching to do but it is almost done.  I am thrilled.

Yippee Skippy and I have a secret

I did, I did, I did finish the Victorian Pincushion stitching today.  I am so very happy.  The class is tomorrow and I am ready.

Here is the whole piece with all the little parts.  Finishing will be the next challenge

This is the front of the Pinkeep.  I love the bargello stitching.  Very cool looking

Meanwhile - I had to come up with a new project to work on.  I saw this design in a recent magazine. The family has a new addition due this spring.  So my secret is this project.  I am not to worried that certain people will see this.  It will be such a surprise.

One side done and a start on part two

I have been working....  I finished the 'backside' of the pin keep.  I am not sure how I got mixed up and did the second part first but it really doesn't matter.  So I finished the busier part and now have the front (less busy) part to do.

I love the satin stitching bargello on the bottom.  Very pretty looking.  There is quite a bit of that on the front side also.

I have a vine of flowers and bargello to do.  Can I finish tonight?  Could it happen?  What is next?  I haven't really started thinking about the next project..............

Working on the Pin Keep

I have been stitching on the Pin Keep for my Victorian Pin cushion.  I working over one and that does take some concentration.  I am busy and things are just distracting of late.  It is cold outside and I am staying home.  I should have lots of time but I always seem to find something else to be doing.  So here is the progress.  I hope to work on it tonight.

A Quick Finish

The fabric is more green.  This is the strawberry for the Victorian Pincushion.  I did the outline and the stitching today while it snowed, and snowed, and snowed.

A Sunday Finish

Winter is about to return.  It was snowing this morning.  Snow is expected tonight and tomorrow and temperatures are getting ready to drop again.  Brrrr.  My new bedroom is coming together.  I was able to get several things done on that project today.  I also ran an errand or two.  In between I worked on Just Nan's Autumn Typography.  Now is it done, done, done.

I also took a close up of the cornucopia.   I am not sure the camera does the fabric justice.  I am very glad to have this project done.

As many of my followers know, I am a 'one project at a time' person.  The holidays always seem to cause me to forget that fact and several things end up being worked on.  Now I have the Victorian Pincushion to finish, hopefully in time for next Saturday's Stitcharama.  I am now back to one project.  It also helps to relieve the area around my chair.

It Has Been a Week???!!!

Where does the time go?  It has been a very hectic week around here.  On Tuesday I had Christmas once more.  My sister and her husband came for a visit and gifts were exchanged.  I wanted to share The Tree of Courage, which is a hand blown glass globe with a tree in the center.  I hope the picture comes through so you can see it.  I love the colors - of course

I took the photo with snow in the background in hopes that it would show up good.  Blues, purples, brown and red are all included in this globe.  It has been by my chair because I consider it a 'safe place' while home remodel took place for the rest of the week.  Yes, I have a new bedroom floor.  Carpet is gone and wood has been put down.  My allergies will be much happier with this - I hope.  Also I have a new smaller bed.  This gives me more room.  It was a crazy week with everything being moved out and back and forth.  The room is not quite done yet.

Today was a banner day.  I had stash in the mail with some Lakeside Linen ornament cuts coming along with some freebies  Then there was Christmas once more.  My good friend stitched me the little ornament in the Whimzie frame.  I am not sure who the designer is on that one.  And (drum roll please) purple scissors!!  Thank you Thank you.  I went to embroidery club this morning.  I WON!  I WON! I WON!  I won a CD with 50 different heart designs for the new sewing machine.  Yippee!  Then I did a bit of retail therapy with the snowman quilt block and some new colors for my embroidery machine.

I have been stitching.  I am done with the afghan except for the border (crochet one).  I am so close to finishing Just Nan's Autumn.  I was not able to stitch this week with the house so torn up.  We now have snow and very cold temperatures about to hit us again.  So in between putting my room back together, I hope to get some stitching done.  Sorry I haven't been on line much but hopefully I will be able to share more photos soon.

Pin Cushion Stitching done!

Saturday I had a Stitcherama with Victoria Sampler.  We are doing a Victorian Pincushion.  We saw demonstrations on stitches and talk a bit about finishing.  Today I did the pin cushion stitching.  It is ready for finishing.  The black lines will be removed.  I still have a pin keep and strawberry emery to stitch.  The next class is in two weeks and I want to have the stitching done by then.

Ribbon embroidery is okay but it won't become my favorite any time soon.  The colors are not showing up the best here.

I have also been working on the crochet afghan.  I am about 3/4 of the way done?

Just Nan - Autumn

I have a few things setting around that need attention.  Some time during the holidays, I started this project and I really want to finish it.  I also have a cyber class this Saturday and I haven't even looked at the project yet.  Argh!!

It is very cold here but the temperatures are warming up just a bit.  Today a small can of Ginger Ale exploded in my garage.  ARgh!  I am really looking for temperatures to stay above 20 overnight.  I think my sinuses and my head would be so much better if that were to happen.  Hopefully soon that might just be the case.

Time for an Afghan Break

I have completed two blocks plus some parts into adjoining blocks.  Whew!!  Yippee Skippy!!  I think it is time to set it aside for a bit and try to focus on something else  I love the look!!

Second Block (#6) Sooooo Close

Today I put some more work  into the border.  (I generally dislike borders because they are boring...).  I went well into the block below number six.  Why cut a thread if you don't have to?

Then I had to move over and continued with the holly leaves.  Those two sections are done to the bottom of block number six.  I still have the bottom of the Letter 'P' to do and then this will most likely be my first finish for the year.

Two progress photos today -

I had to move the Qsnaps today.  Here is the photo as I was about to do that.  I am so close to having the second block done!!  Perhaps 10 rows on the bottom?

While I had the Qsnaps off, I took this photo which shows all the progress so far.  Wow - I like it.  I have to keep going.  Today I stayed busy with putting away the Christmas decorations.  The house seems relieved to have less clutter around.  The sun was shining.  The deer where visiting.  The turkeys came for a feeding call.  I am going to have to make an effort to get out of the house. It has been a week now and I need to rejoin the world.  LOL.

Progress on Two Fronts

I am getting close to having to move the Qsnaps in order to continue.  I am working on the large P for Peace, done in brown.  It is certainly coming along.

Last night while I watched TV I worked on the crochet afghan.  I love the colors.  I am about half way done with this now?  I am enjoying both afghan and I don't mind the extra weight and warmth at all.  I saw the temperature at minus seven this morning.  Brrr...

Snow and Sunshine

Brrr - - it is cold outside.  At 5:30 pm it is -2!!!  I did step outside long enough to get this photo.  I had to take a break from stitching as my arm is sore.  Perhaps I did a bit too much yesterday.  As it turned out it was a good day to clean the desk, clean up last year's bills and paperwork and prepare for the new year.  I was certainly busy.

Snow Day!!

It is a snow day in New England.  I have watched it snow all day.  I have been stitching up a storm.  LOL.  I welcomed in the New Year with my niece and we had a lot of fun.  Then yesterday was a bit of a lost day as I recovered from our celebrations.  I wasn't in the mood to be stitching.  It was good to get back to it today.  I am stitching on 20 count Cashel - over two with four strands of floss - to answer a question recently left at the blog.

I stepped out on the back porch and this is what I saw.  Notice the little lights in the benches out back.  The snow is half way up to them now.  Snow, Snow, Snow....  I did see the turkeys today trying to find some dinner.
