Tin topper is still under construction

There is a bit more of it done. This will go on the inside of the top lid of the tin. There is quite a bit of 'over one' to do on this before it gets done.

Nashville Market Day

Now that Jack has resumed normal breathing - I can take a moment to savor and share my wonderful day. As the girls said, This is my last hurrah before the big move.... No LNS near me in NY so today I went to both the shops in our area.First thing Jeanne gave me a gift bag. Inside was a lovely note and a tote bag made by and from Christine. Oh My Gosh!!!! I can't believe her talent and generosity. Isn't it great? Currently it is full of my market stash. Thank you so much Christine.

Well, where do I start? Blue Ribbons Design's new chart is in the upper left hand corner. Then I found a JABCO strawberry wool pin cushion kit. There in the middle is the JABCO Black bird threader and magnet of bee and butterflies. The Tuesday Morning and Friday night charts come with some wonderful fabric. There is also the two Sweetheart Tree kits. One is the quadrille kit and the other one with the blue birds also has a mat board cut to use with the finishing of this project. The bright colors up front in the middle is Clips that get decorated with yo-yos and buttons. They should be fun.
Then at another shop - - (yes, there were two) I found the Victoria Sampler Quilting Bee chart and threads which were on order. The I found a Dinky Dye chart with the most beautiful purple included floss. The Kringle Keepers were on my list and will be made by next Christmas. The Butterfly chart came with a yummy purple finger tip towel to stitch it on. The Santa is a Heinzit with chart and bauble. Just Nan's Whirling Birds was a limited edition market deal and I wasn't taken with it on line but it found a way into my bag anyway. The little box contains silk flosses that are colorfast and overdyed. I can't wait to discover something to use those for. Oh the Peace symbol chart is marvelous. Also under all this stuff is a new magazine/newspaper called Spool with all kinds of ideas for crafts. Oh and there is a book by Blackbird Designs that is full of ideas and projects.

All in all it was a great day. It was wonderful XS shopping as I haven't been in quite some time. It was great to see friends I haven't seen in some time. It was fun to laugh and giggle and tell stories. (If anyone sees Harriet - ask her about the fork that tried to follow her home...) There was a general understanding that in some cases, I was saying good bye. This idea makes me sad and brings some tears. I will always think of St. Louis and cross stitch friends as being one and the same. I am happy to be going on our new adventure but I am sad to say good bye.

So Sweet

Time for a new project. Here is a start. The fabric has sparkles in it. The pattern is So Sweet by Sue Hillis. This is for tools and lining for a Whitman Candy tin. This is the start of the inside of the lid. The pattern called for a light green. I didn't happen to have that color so I picked this one which is more a medium green.

Blue Ribbon's White Winter Wonderland

Well, it is done. The last block was two deer with some trees. I love this series and I have more of them to do.

It is really pretty and neat. I want to frame this but that process will wait until I am in my new home.

So cute Ornament kits and a bit more stitching-

Here are my ornament kits with Frosty Blue up front to show off. Linda's kits are in those cute snowman bags. Having the ornament kit exchange has always been a fun thing to do.

I did get a start on the last block of this project. I am almost done. I can see the end......

Stash and more stitching

First up - stash. I WON!! the Americana series of quilt patterns from Prairie Grove Peddler. You see it as a single quilt in this photo. I am over the top thrilled. If you have checked out her blog and website, you should. She is always having give aways and contests. Then I received some stash. The Little House Needleworks ornament and Lizzie Kate's Halloween Rules with fabric and floss.
I touched a wall!! I finished the house, and then I did the top and bottom sections. One more block to go.

The Snow! and a bit of stitching

While in NY, the snow banks kept growing by leaps and bounds. It was a challenge just to keep up.
I did get some stitching done while it snowed.

Travel Project - Halloween

I did get to work on my travel project while I was in NY. I am so far behind on what I have done - I am not sure how to catch up. Anyway - this is the last of the January photos. Next - February.

Meanwhile we are one step closer to making our move. The middle of March will be stressful and I will most likely miss posting here for some time. I hope to get you all caught up before my absence. Trust me - getting back on the internet will be a priority at the new house, once we get there. The clock is ticking and we are going to be there soon.

More cardinals and now a snowman

Well, winter time means snowman times. Here he is. I like him.

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

The start of a snowman -

Well, I finished up the white owls and moved on to the next block which is a snowman. Can you tell? I am working on the verse as I go. This helps to make sure I am making the squares the correct size. I have learned over the years to work the project from a number of different sides to double and triple check my counting.

The birds are almost done.

One owl done with another one started. Plus a rather large cardinal. This square is almost done.

Owls and Cardinals

We are going to the birds!! The next block has birds including owls. While we were in NY recently, DH overhead an owl hoot - hoot - hooting in the night. Very cool.

Perhaps a path ?

A path to a new home? A path in the snow to a happy place for us. We had the home inspection done on a day after a heavy overnight snow. It was crazy to see that much snow. This project is just showing my life. LOL.

Just a bit further

Well, it is a start. I really do miss this project. We are on our way home. We had great success and have a contract on a wonderful house full of natural light. I can just imagine myself stitching in the living room or my new studio. More news as the time to move gets closer.

The farm house is done.

Hi Everyone. I am still 'on the road'. This project is back home and waiting for me. I miss it. I am still working on the Halloween Road Trip project but I have to say things are slow. My wonderful husband and I are house hunting and plan to move back home to NY. This process is very involved, takes a lot of time and patience. At least it seems that way from time to time. Then it feels like we are flying through space at warp speed. In less than a week, we have found the house, signed the contracts and are flying down the path to owning a home in our home area. My blog and my stitching will have to take a back seat to plans, details and things moving. I am over the top happy about this move. When things 'firm up' a bit more, I will share some photos of the new house and Taffy's Studio, the new home of my treasures. To all my followers - - I will be back and promise to post more often when things calm down.

Road Trip Project

I have this project started. It is a Halloween banner that I found in a magazine. This is the top of it. For a road trip project, using one color should make it easier to work on.
