Celebrate America

I love patriotic designs. I decided a needed a quick break from doing models. I just received this kit from Needlecraft Corner. It was quick and fun. One little heart button broke. I will have to search my stash and see if I have another one. This design is by Shepherds Bush. The Fourth of July is just around the corner and I am ready.

A surprise for Michelle

I have been busy stitching. I decided to do a mail art for Michelle's Get Well card. I used a freebie pattern by Blue Ribbon Designs titled Bluebirds and Daisies. I was thinking of a summer picnic on the back. The blue is done with Old Blue Jeans by Crescent Colours - I thought that was fitting. I especially like the watermelons. They called for Cupid (CC again) and I didn't like the variation and thought it was too pronounced. So I used the loop start method and that helped to tone down the differences. I hope she likes it.

I have been told that Michelle is sleeping a lot and taking pain medications. For now that is the best thing for her. I have been contacted by so many people who have agreed to send cards. Thank you all. I am sure when Michelle wakes and get interested she will be overwhelmed with all the cards and packages that are heading her way. I cry just thinking about it. Thank you.

Prayers for my Great Niece

My Great Niece, Michelle, has been in a horrible accident. She was run over by a car. She is currently in a pediatric ICU with extensive injuries. I am so far from home and the phone has been busy all day. The situation is looking up just a bit and it appears she will survive this but she will have a very long road to recovery with all the broken bones. If you could, say a prayer. Teenagers are not bullet proof. I want to search my stash and stitch her something. I am also thinking of sending her a small cross stitch kit that she can try while she spends many hours healing.

Peace by Country Cottage Needleworks

I started this just the other day and finished it today. It was a kit from our ornament kit exchange. That is where six friends all pick an ornament from the Just Cross Stitch Ornament issue (Sept) and kit everything up for you and your five friends. We did our exchange last March while at Camp Wannasew. It is so much fun to see everyone's finished ornament and then take home the kit for future stitching.

I changed mine a bit. I decided to stitch it over one. Then I decided to make it into a small pillow ornament. Oh - and mine has a bit more space over the flower. Hey - I had to make it my own. LOL.

The Shack by William Young

I can not say enough good things about this book. I cried and laughed for days while I read this. It was a wonderful read and hard to put down. I love books like that. On the cover it says "Where tragedy confronts eternity." So true. It is a great story.

Autumn Sampler

I stitched this model recently. Apparently Cheryl wanted to release this one quickly. I did the framed piece and then I made the needleroll and ornament. Cheryl added the buttons. It is a nice touch. This was designed by PG Peddler. I saw it on Hoffman's list last week. Check out PG Peddler's site at: http://www.prairiegrovepeddler.com/index.html

Ta-Da - It's done

I became rather obsessed and just had to stay up late one night and put this thing together. It wasn't difficult, it was just a bit of sewing. I just love it. I am not sure how to display it. Quite an strange pin cushion.

N - the last section

This is N and Thistles stitched on cream. This marks the end of the cross stitching. Now the assembly can begin. I love the whip stitch of backstitches. It is easy to do and looking grand.

E - Garden pin cushion #5

This is Sweet William and E on Toasted Almond. Yesterday's post should have told you that they are Bachelor Buttons and D on Peach. Only one more letter to go. Then assembly and completion. Just a note - - I don't really see an "E" on this but that is what they charted.

D - Pin Cushion #4

Another letter. This is a fun project.

R - Pin Cushion #3

This is coming right along. The pattern is basically the same from letter to letter. The flowers are a bit different. Colors are different. This one was labeled Johnny Jump Ups and R on yellow.

A - Pin cushion #2

Carnations and A stitched on Putty. This is quite the project. All these little pieces will make up a very nice looking ball. This process is similar to one we did at Camp this year. You do the outlining of the piece to insure that the size is correct. Then you do the fill in work with cross stitching. My head spins with the ideas of what else to stitch on such a project.

G - Pin cushion #1

This is the first of six pieces. On each small piece of fabric, there are three parts. This has the letter 'G' on it. This is blue bells and G stitched on light mocha. I have been having nightmares about putting these together into a ball.

June Release

PG Peddler has released another new design. I stitched this last year, I believe. I like the sunflowers. They are very bright and cheerful.
