It is done.......
This is the top of Jack's box. He asked to see the box that my son was making to hold his ashes. When his sister saw him carrying the box, she asked what he had. He answered "Jack in a Box!". He thought the top of the box looked plain while the sides had fancy panels. I said that I planned to stitch a top for it. He told me "Chop Chop Woman - I don't have all day." I told him that I couldn't do it because he had yet to give me the dates to put on it. Now the one year anniversary is looming over my head. I finished this piece today. I will frame the Love Is .. Sampler that this is based on. I want to display the sampler near the box. I was puzzled as to how to do this. I wanted a small, very tall, light colored wood table to set the box on. Guess what? I have it!! It is called a bar stool. (Quite fitting.) This particular bar stool is too high for me (or most people to sit on). It is perfect to set the box on. It is a sad day but I am glad to have this done.

Taffy - I don't know the story behind "Jack". I'm assuming he is your late husband? If so, I wasn't following your blog back then, so am unaware of all of this. But these anniversaries are killers. What a nice way to keep his ashes. I'm so sorry for your loss.
I forget that not everyone knows but yes, I lost my dear husband to cancer last March. It has been a really rough year and the anniversary is looming large for me. I am glad to have this project done. I miss him every day. Especially his sense of humor.
What a beautiful piece and treasure in a sad circumstance. I am sure the beauty in the design reflects the beauty of his life.
I was thinking of Jack the other day. I remember when we sent cards to him. I knew the anniversary was coming up. You are kept in my prayers. The box and stitching are a beautiful tribute to him.
It sounds like your husband was a charming man. The tribute you have chosen is lovely and seems quite fitting. Laura
Oh, what a sense of humor! :) Greatly missed & so dearly loved. You're in my thoughts during this hard time, Taffy.
I would be lost without my Husband. I am really sad to hear you lost your Jack.
