Happy Birthday America

I know I have been 'missing in action'.  It has been a rough couple of days/weeks.  I am struggling again with the loss of my dear Jack.  Jack's 60 birthday would be coming up on the calendar and this is affecting me more than I care to admit.  I am withdrawing from life and trying to keep things together.  I am okay.  Please don't worry.  I just can't seem to join the human race lately.  I am climbing out of this hole and I do have a few things to share.

I participated in a July Exchange with the Victoria Sampler Stitchers, an on line group.  I was so happy to put my contribution in the mail on Saturday.  When I got home, this was waiting in my mail box.  I believe the design is from Shepherd's Bush.  The box opens to reveal small scissors and a thread winder.  Nancy did a great job and it was a bright spot on the weekend.

I finished a piece.  I wanted to do something quick and easy and patriotic.  So I found this little project from Stitcher's Hideaway.  I am not sure what I will do with it but it is done.
Then I moved on to the project named Stars Pin and Scissors Roll by Jeannette Douglas.  I love her designs but I am struggling with the instructions and the project in general.  I have the main piece done and ready for 'finishing'.  I also started and I hope to finish the matching scissors fob soon.  The directions and instructions are difficult because of the confusing flosses.  Two whites, Two reds, Three blues and no real idea of which to use where.  For now, I am mostly 'making it up'.

The star covered smaller piece will be placed on the main roll along with some wool pieces.  The weather is been fantastic and almost too cold.  It is so refreshing for July.  I am sure warmer weather will be coming but for now - I am trying to enjoy it.

146As usual love all you do. I have been spending time on my porch stitching. Nice breeze but muggy at night. I know how you feel, I stay home more and more all the time. I need fireworks to get me going?? (then the dog doesn't like the noise).

Your stitching looks great Taffy. Hang in there. Dealing with the loss of a spouse can be hard. (((hugs)))

Found your blog from reading one, then it leads to another and another. You are a very prolific stitcher AND blogger! You must stitch very quickly... I am not so fast. Plus you do very intricate pieces--beautifully I might say. It is understandable that you feel down time coming when your husband's birthday comes up. Take all the time you need...bloggers are patient. And I will pray for you! Hugs!
