Block 4 is done and the wool mat is complete

I did get this block done.  I hope to put some more time in on this project and perhaps get it done!  I am at least half way there.

We went to visit family today and I took a bit of stitching.  I put the button hole stitch around the outside of the wool mat.  It is done!  It is done!  Silly Dennis thought I should be leaving it with them.  Silly guy.

Red House Block #4 part ?

The project is coming along slowly.  I have been feeling 'under the weather' of late and stitching just was not happening.  Today the doctor had to work hard to try to find anything wrong other than an allergy to a medication.  As each hour passes, I feel better.  I really hope that I can finish this one block soon.

Little Red House Block #4

See I have been making some headway on this project.  I still have trees, flowers and a heart to do but it is coming along.  I didn't get time to work on anything else today.  We did go for a long drive and tried to get lost but it is just too darn hard to do around here.  LOL.

Where did the weekend go?

I am so sorry that I have neglected my blog over the weekend.  We had a quiet weekend and didn't get a lot done.  My husband has been feeling the fatigue that was promised would come with the chemo.  We did get a boat ride in and that was nice.  I have been working on several things.  This little wool mat will be done once I get the button hole stitch done around the outside.  I am thrilled with it.  So much fun.

This is a new toy!!  Vera Bradley tech tote.  And now it is my sewing tote.  I love the bright colors and the purples.  It looks like it will work out just fine.

I have made some progress on my current cross stitch project and I hope to share that tomorrow,  I do love my crafts and cross stitch.

Block 3 is done

For missing a day, I don't feel like I have a lot to show.  I did complete  block #3.  There are a total of 8 blocks so I still have a ways to go.  I haven't been feeling great and stitching seems to be a struggle.  I did spend a bit of time trying to reorganize my craft room.  That always takes some time.  It is hot here and summer has arrived.  I hope everyone has a cool place to hang out.  It is a busy weekend here in Lake George.  We have a big bike race going on that starts to night and has stuff all weekend.  Plus there are fire trucks everywhere as they have the yearly gathering and parades this weekend.  It is certainly busy in the village.

Block 3 Continues

I hope everyone has a nice place to spend some time and stay cool.  It is hot and humid out there.  We are hiding indoors for now.  I didn't get as much stitching done as I would have liked.  (What else is new?)  I have so many things I want to work on it is a dizzy blur before my eyes.

Simple Samplings Block 3

I have moved on to block number 3.  Yesterday was exhausting and it is time to recover.  I wasn't able to settle down much today and get to stitching.  I hope I can tomorrow.  DH continues to do well.  Thank you to everyone for continued prayers.

Snowman is about half way done

I did get some work done on the snowman today.  It was chemo day so we were at the hospital most of the day.  I am exhausted.  I would love to stitch this evening but I feel all wrung out.  My husband's treatment continue to go well.  Prayers are always appreciated.

French & Indian War news and a new snowman

It is a beautiful day here in the Adirondacks.  Sunshine with a nice breeze and pleasant temperatures.  Today we decided to go see the lake.  We went the marina for lunch (excellent food, great people, wonderful to deck to look out at the lake).  After lunch I did some stitching.  I was starting to work on a new piece.  Lori Birminham's snowman kit is what I have to work on tomorrow at the hospital.  I decided to get it started in a less stressful environment.

The white on white is difficult.  Hopefully this start will make it easier to work on it tomorrow.  This afternoon there was a reenactment of the French and Indian war with the battle at Bolton.  After lots of cannon and musket fire, they went rowing back up the lake toward Canada.  I was able to get a few pictures.

It certainly made for an interesting afternoon.

Dangerous new craft and some XS

I have been busy.  Yesterday I dropped everything to make that scissors fob.  It was fun.  Then I spied a wool applique kit that I purchased in New Hampshire.  Oh it is so much fun!!! I am not done yet but I am getting there.

I have button hole stitched around the flowers and the basket.  Next up is the stems and leaves.  This is a fun craft and I hope to be doing more.

I also took a few moments to work on my Blue Ribbon Design.  Mostly I have been adding the color Garnet.  It is coming along.

Kate's Scissor Fob

Isn't this wonderful?  This morning I was sent a lovely design by Bee's Needleworks.  I decided to put it together and here it is.  The rhodes butterfly was done with purple, and the other specialty stitches are done with a pink variegated floss.  I had the ribbon and the tassel was made with a skein of floss.  Happy dancing with a quick finish.

Banana Bread and just a little bit of stitching

Today was a good day.  My sister came to visit.  We went to the marina for lunch.  Hubby ate hot dogs!!!!  (It might seem like a simple thing but that is fantastic.)  Tonight I made banana bread.  I have not done any baking for months and it felt kind of strange to even be doing it.  I did stitch a bit.  I worked a little on the Simple Samplings and a little on the Isle of Hope.  I didn't feel like either showed enough progress to even take a photo.  So tonight - you get banana bread.

2nd Block done, stash and a prize!!

it was a beautiful day out.  I did some stitching while out on the back porch.  It is hard to see while out there but then I am working on 40 count.  Perhaps another project would be better.

Thunderstorm fabric is for the Just Nan Halloween block, plus two more houses for Mill Hill Village.  Then thre is a bit of floss that I needed.  And A from Victoria Sampler to go in my book.

Also my prize arrived!!!  This is a prize that I won from Stitches N Things.  Yippee Skippy.  There is a cool mesh bag decorated with spring fabric.  Scissors, a cat key chain, a floss holder, four charts from Trail Creek Farm, a book full of wonderful charts and ideas.  Oh and two note cards which will always come in handy.  This was so fun to open up today.

Second block continues and happy feet

I did get to work on the second block.  This seems to be going very slow for me.  I just can't seem to keep my butt in the chair.  Shopping, nursing, housework, etc all are calling me.  It just makes it a slow stitch.

Guess what?  I found purple shoes!!!  I love them.  Purple mary janes to boot!!  Silly I know but I am a happy camper.

Sweet Samplings - Second block started

I didn't have a lot of time to stitch today.  Housework, grocery shopping, and such all were calling me.  I did make some headway on that front, so perhaps later this week, stitching will be paramount. The weather is perfect.  It is about 80 degrees with a gentle breeze.  I love it.  I hope we see more of this.

Sweet Samplings - First block is done

I did get to stitch today.  I finished up the first block with the alphabet in it.  I am working on the flowers top and bottom.  Then I will move on to the next block.  I do like projects that have nice blocks that you can feel a bit accomplished even if there is still a lot to do on the project.  I am also stitching this sideways.  The fabric works best in the scroll rods that way.  I know that this really freaks some people out but it is easy once you get the hang of it.

Sweet Samplings Start

Zoom.  Zoom.  There is a constant din of motorcycle sounds at my house.  We are in the last day of Americade.  Tens of thousands of bikes are visiting the area and they all love to ride.  Like I said, zoom, zoom.  Yesterday I did stitch but I didn't want to share a photo.  With Jack in the hospital and getting drugs most of the time, his birth date is most important.  They ask for it at every turn.  On a chemo day, they may ask 15 times.  So he made a joke about getting a tattoo on his forehead to save time.  So I stitched his birth date on some fabric and made him a head band.  Next trip, he won't have to repeat it quite so much.  It was a fun project and it will be a hit at the hospital.

Today I was able to spend some time on my main current project.

Two Projects at once!

I started this one.  This is Blue Ribbon Design's Sweet Simple Samplings.  It looks large but it is stitched over two on 40 count with a single strand.  It is a good start.

I also set up the class project from Jeannette Douglas' Isle of Hope.  I have it ready to go in the craft room so I can go stitch in there.  Just getting it all set up takes time so I hope get a few more stitches in this one soon.

Good News to share:  DH and I went out to lunch today.  It is the first time in about 3 months!!

The eagle is done.

This is the last piece of the sewing set.  I am done!! Happy Dancing!!  This is a side for a pin cushion.  I am contemplating how to do the finishing.  I am thinking it might have to be a flat type pin cushion.  My mind is spinning with ideas.  What is next?????

Finishing Can Be Fun.

Yesterday I took three projects to the hospital.  They all needed hand stitching towards their finishing plans.  I posted the Drawn Thread piece yesterday.  Today I show the other two.  They needed a bit more work today.

Sweetheart Tree's Halloween Quadrille.  It was fun to put together.  I added the ribbons today.

Then there is the Shakespeare's Peddler's Gentle Stitches which I put around a plastic tube for transporting projects.  I think it looks great.

Ten Years in the Making??

This is a design by Drawn Thread.  I have been working on it for many years.  It has a history.  I decided at the start that the fabric was too long so I cut it in half.  Then I stitched the top half and as I rolled the scroll bars, I realized that I was about to run out of fabric, exactly half way through the design.  Horrors.  So it was put away for many years.  Then in 2009 I stitched the bottom half.  I have spent a lot of time trying to decide how to put the two pieces together and then how to do the hemstitching around the center design, and inside the outer border.  Well, I did it.  Today I did the hemstitching.  I also ironed a heavy interfacing on the back.  It is done.

Meanwhile we saw the doctor today.  The most recent scan doesn't show any change.  Darn.  It is great  that Jack can now eat as much as he can but the scan didn't show any shrinkage in the tumor.  So for now - more chemo and another scan in two months.  It isn't bad news but it isn't great news either.  Continued prayers are most welcome.

Finishing crackers and a pillow.

There was not a lot of stitching going on.  Instead it was a finishing day.  I spent the day in my craft room working on the final steps  of several projects.  It was a rather productive day.

Four Victoria Sampler Christmas crackers.  Santa, Snowman, Gingerbread Man and Angel.  Remember that I do the hemstitching while at the hospital.  So today it was time for a bit of interfacing, the seam up the back, ribbons and stuffing.  Then I also pressed and interfaced the back of the Bird of Happiness project bag.

This is not done.  This is a project that has been hanging around for many, many years.  Perhaps a dozen years.  Someone cut the fabric in half and had to figure out how to finish it with two separate pieces of fabric.   I have been puzzled as to how to put the two pieces together and used a four sided stitch on both sides to merge the two together.  Today I worked at pulling the threads and pressing for hemstitching all the way around.  I will work on this at the hospital.  I can't believe this one may actually get done.

Finally the Little House Needlework pillow complete with hand dyed ric rac around the outside.  The backing is a lightly flowered quilted material.

E Pluribus Unum

I stitched a lot today and this is what I have to show for it.  This will be the backside of the pin cushion.  The front will have an eagle.  One more part to stitch and I can move on to something new.  It is chemo week coming up so I generally have a lot of time to stitch.  I am thinking it might be a pretty Blue Ribbon Design.  I was drooling over it earlier.

Two finishes today!

Home of the Free sewing set has a scissors fob.  It is so tiny.  30 x 30 stitches over one on 28 count.  Then there is four sided stitch around it to help with finishing later.  They look like postage stamps!

Bird of Happiness by JBW.  This has been a 'hospital project' and only needed a few more stitches.  I decided to go ahead and finish it up.  That means I have to find some more smalls to work on next week.  DH is doing great.  Thank everyone for continued prayers. He is adding new foods every day and that is a good thing. Today he ate some egg salad.
