Let Freedom Ring

Another finish project is done. I was on a roll when I got all these done.

Do you remember?

I stitched these a couple of months ago. I have decided to get some finishing done. These were the first four I did. I love my craft room. I can leave it a mess and pick up right where I left when I return. I have most everything within arms reach. I can not imagine working to do this type of finishing in any other place. I think they came out really neat. I thought about some other edging to add but I like simple. They are backed with blue felt.

I have made some new things!

My son and my brother are both making wooden handled threaders for sale. I got the idea to build a display box out of Whitman candy tins. I lined the tins with felt. I made blankets of fleece material to cushion the threaders. I then made a color top and covered the bottom with felt. Here they are!!!!!

Lori Birmingham's Needle Book

I am having fun showing off some of my 'little pretties'. This has hardanger all around the outside. It opens up to a needle book. The fuzzy little flowers, the little ribbon, all come together to make a useful tool.

Tea & Stitches

I took a cyber class with Victoria Sampler back in '06. It was a great class and I learned a lot. Now this chart has been released by VS.

On another note - I have completed my model stitching and hope to move on to my own model for my first release. Wish me luck.

Family Heirloom Sampler

This was designed by Victoria Sampler. I stitched it in 2004. Sometimes I even amaze myself LOL. This is one of those times. I love doing these but the mountains of instructions can be overwhelming. This does hang proudly on my wall.

More band seasonal pieces

I found this photo of the summer banner before it was a banner and the autumn one that was just finish. I know that I haven't stitched all the season on this series. I really do need to look for these and finish this group up.

I wanted to add the link to Plum Pudding's site. Check out her other designs.

I love the new Halloween design - - I just might have to get that one.

I got the job!!!!!

An Apple A Day by Plum Pudding Designs. I did the model stitching on this one. (See, when I disappear - - I am really working on things I can't show for a bit.) This photo does not give it the full credit it deserves. I love this design. The model was stitched with DMC but I plan to stitch it again with overdyed flosses. I think the frame is perfect.

Can you hear it?

Ok - here is the rest of this one. It should make a very nice ornament. I am thinking of pin heads around the edge. I really need to schedule some finishing time. I am sure my craft room misses me.

Red Bird Sings

This is another Christmas ornament. Once again it is a kit (made by a friend) from last year's ornament issue. I love these little kits. I was waiting for more model stitching information and this certainly filled the bill.

I will have to do some fill in posts with older things as I am model stitching again. I won't share what I am working on for now but rest assured - - you will see it one day.

Summer Solstice

This is one of the teaching pieces I have used in the past. I was showing how to do the edges to make a banner out of this cute little band sampler. I should really get the other seasons done. Why do I keep doing seasons series?

Christmas Centerpiece

This was a fairly quick stitch. This was in last year's Ornament issue. Then it was a kit from my ornament kit group.

American Panorama - framed

Well it is framed and on the wall. It looks great. Now I see that Blue Ribbon has a similar piece for Halloween. I won't be able to resist.

Winter Sampler

This can now join the other three seasons on the wall. Why do I love seasonal things so much? Remember it all started with a long stretch of 93 stitches. I am glad I found my little tip.

LHN: Winter Sampler

Well, the project is coming right along. The long stretch of stitches is just above the gingerbread man's head. I did the other three seasons over the years and I hope to put the last one on the wall.

Counting a long string - -

I had to count out 93 stitches across this next project. I really dislike counting and re-counting long stretches of stitches. It truely was the best way to start this particular project. I used a red thread and ran it through every tenth stitch. I kept the counting thread on the surface of the project. When I was on the other end, I double checked between the marked stitches and wha-la I was there! Then I just pulled out the red counting thread and I was ready to move on to the next part.

Santa is ready to go

Well, here he is. It did take me about four days to stitch him. All those beads!!!! It is heavy. These kits call for this to be stitched on perforated paper but I prefer linen. I hope to stretch it over a stiff cardboard and make a wall hanging of it.

Santa - - well, it is a start

I am not sure why I am doing this project...... I started this Mill Hill Santa. It is a kit called I Believe. I understand why I liked it but I don't get why I am struggling so to do it. The beard is sryma crosses and beads. The suit will be those long stitches with beads added. It is heavy on the beads. I tried using my divided plate and that won't work. I then started using small bead boxes to store the individual colors and then used a Bead BoB Box when I was stitching.
