I touched a wall

That is what I say when I put the first stitch on a side. Since I started this one in the middle on the top, there won't a lot of celebrations. At this point I have touched three walls. LOL. I can really look forward to that last one. The butterfly and the cricket have not been backstitched just yet. This finishes the upper left corner.

The little ones are done and we can move on

The amount of stitching in the center 'by the sea' just amazes me. Then there was a lot of backstitching. It looks great now but it was a lot of work. I am ready to move on to a new section. What direction to go next?

By the sea, by the sea

The middle upper portion of this project is the little boy and girl playing in the surf and searching for sea shells. I love this theme and it has been done time and time again. I was surprised at just how much stitching it takes to make this little scene.

Tomato Seeds!!

Tomatoes just scream Summer. I found I had to give extra attention to making the dark color lay down properly. I use a laying tool that is on a thimble. I wear it on my left hand ring finger. My left hand is on top of the scroll rods and as I draw the thread through to the back, I can hook the threads with the laying tool. This helps to insure that the threads are giving the most coverage.

I love the colors

I continue to work on Summer. I just love the whole design. The strip I finished is so lovely with the colors running together. I am trying to keep up with the backstitching with each section that is completed. I can't imagine waiting until the end of such a complicated, intricate piece.

And the stitching begins

This was after just a day or two on the new Summer Scrapbook design. I just love these designs because you quickly finish one section and go on to another section. Each section is different and fun. (Or so I tell myself......).

The beginning of a big one

I pulled the threads out of the kit and spent an hour or so sorting and labeling the colors. Then I had to find fabric as I won't stitch on aida. I have it all ready to go in this photo. I love these scrapbook designs. Each little section is like a new project. The only question is what part to do next. I have already done two of these designs. Spring and Autumn are hanging on my wall already. This is summer. I know from the past that once I start one of these - - it is hard to get me to stop. I sorted the floss into floss totes. I made these few years ago and I can't imagine stitching a large project without one or two of these. I can put the floss into loops of elastic, label the symbols and numbers on a paper insert and park any needles in the top.
