2014: Happy Halloween

Just a bit of progress on the snowmen.  Stitching hasn't been a priority of late.  Leaves are falling and that means I spend time dealing with them.  There will be at least one more day of leave grinding.  I have also discovered Zentangle.  Meditation doodling.  Very cool and fun.  There is a rumor that I might see the drawings for the new camp today.  Also I am told that my father's chair (bent metal frame) from the front porch is being cleaned up and refurbished.  Guess what color it will be!!!  Purple!!!  Thank you Butch.

Snow In Love and Tree Fandangle

I started another Christmas ornament.  This is Snow In Love by Little House Needleworks.  I didn't get very far but it is a start.

Today I had housework to do and then I spent the afternoon in my room working on the fandangle  I finished the first one, except for the red beads.  There is a mistake.  So before I get anything else done, I want to make the matching second (back) fandangle.  I need to duplicate the mistake.  Argh!

Guess Where I Spent My Day!

I have a new addition to My Room.  It is a Horn Quilter's Dream Sewing Cabinet.  It fits in quite well with my stitching room.  I fussed and figured and moved things around and then I just had to spend more time in that room so I spent the day stitching in the sunshine.

I decided that I need another fandangle.  So I started this Christmas tree one.  It was fun to work on.

Gumdrop is Done!

I just put the last bead on Gumdrop!  This will make a very cute Christmas ornament.

This morning I put together the Pumpkin fandangle.  The colors look more orange in person.  It is so much fun to be getting things done.  I also 'found' my birthday ad Christmas present today.  I stumbled on a deal for a perfect sewing machine (Quilter's Dream) cabinet.  It worked out perfectly.  My son helped to get it here.  I will be spending the weekend putting stuff away!!!!

Lots of Things Happening

First up is Gumdrop the sheep.  This is another Christmas ornament designed by Cathy Jean.

I have also been working on the embroidered witch's hat.  So far we have "Member in good standing of the Black Hat Society".  Fancy frilly writing is making this more difficult.  I hope to get more done on this soon.

I have the front and back stitched for the pumpkin fandangle.  I found the hanger and made the tassel.  Next up is putting it together.

I cut this out, found the hanger and put felt on the back.  Ready to go!

Cranberry Farm and Christmas Jewels

Two more finishes.  I made the ornament yesterday.  It is Cathy Jean's Cranberry Farm House.  I was happy to be working on this one.  These small ornaments are working up quickly.  I will need several for gifts soon so it is good that I am getting them done now.

I went searching for a certain heart shaped thread palette.  I found it in a 'take it on the road' kit that I haven't touched in years.  This was a Mill Hill jeweled ornament that I worked on while Jack was getting chemo so many years ago.  Once I found it, it dropped everything and had to get it done.  I will need to cut it out and put a bit of felt on the back.  Another one done!

Two More Finshes

Blissfully Unaware by Hands On Design was completed yesterday.  I have stitched almost every day with trips out and about in between.  The colors are fantastic this fall.  My favorite saying this year is the "My Favorite Color is October".  How perfect is that?  The reds, oranges, yellows, browns and greens are all coming together to make a beautiful sight.

Today I had to find something new to stitch on.  I chose Kathy Jean's Down Jinglepot Road that was in this year's Just Cross Stitch ornament issue.  Well, here it is done done and done.  On to finishing for this one.  What to work on next?

Many projects have kept me busy.

Busy weekend!  I decided to spend some time in my room.  I have many things to work on in there.  Here is Saturday morning's accomplishments.

I was able to frame the pumpkin tree which was good as it is nice to have it out for this time of year.
Then I put together the Witch mouse complete with broom made with a tooth pick.  Today I decided to play with the hardanger pumpkin.

Here is a close up of the two smaller pieces.  I also did some cross stitch on my main project.

Today I decided that I wanted to work on a crazy quilt witch's hat.  It is a kit I purchased many years ago.  I have the pieces ready for embroidery.  Tomorrow I may have to go get some tracing paper to aid with this project.
And to top off the weekend, I have lost my voice.  I didn't realize it until the UPS guy stopped by.  Within a few words, my voice was reduced to a squeak.  Apparently I had too much fun on Saturday night at my 40th high school reunion.  I hope it is better tomorrow.  No pain, just no voice.

If You .....

The moon and bats are done.  Now we have a lot of written parts.  I think I have been making some good progress.

Update on camp: We settled on the layout this week.  It has now gone to the process of making the drawings.  So I am waiting once again.  Construction won't be happening until next spring.  I hope to make several quilts to decorate the new camp with.  Stay tuned.....

It is Fall Y'all

I have been in awe of all the beautiful colors I get to see each day.  I keep trying to get a good photo but they just don't capture the great colors.  This is from my back yard.  Look at that sky!

I finished it!  Just Nan's Pumpkin Tree is ready for framing.  I thought I might get to it today but it didn't happen.

Then I started HandsOn Design's Blissfully Unaware.  The bulk of the stitching is that moon.  Wow there is certainly a lot of it.  I love the fabric.  Just perfect.

Lots of Jack O Lanterns

They all have faces.  The ghosts and the Jack o Lanterns.  Plus a few spiders and bats!  Next is the tree truck with one white pumpkin.  Then beads and a charm.  The end is in sight.  What will be next?  I should so something other than Just Nan.

On the Camp Front:  the layout is under review.  I have very little space and I need it to do all we need.  So I spent some time this weekend reviewing ideas as to how to lay out the rooms in camp.  On the one hand it is easy because there isn't a lot of space.  On the other hand is is difficult because there isn't a lot of space.  I am done, for now, thinking about it.  Tomorrow I will forward the ideas to the builder and see what they think.  More to follow.

Pumpkins and more pumpkins

I am really tired of pumpkins.  I like them.  I love the colors but these little guys were a pain to stitch.  I do believe the main part of the tree needs black and the charm.  Then the base and I am done.  The ghosts and jack - o - lanterns get a lot of black back stitch to make them real.  I am considering flower thread or size 12 perle cotton to help with the process.  For now I am just happen to be this far along.

Mocs, New Bear and just a bit of XS

It was a busy day.  I had a design meeting trying to determine the foot print for the new camp.  Then I did a bit of shopping.  Fringe moccasins and a new bear for camp.  I will name this one Danny because of his coon skin hat.  Then I tried to do a bit of XS.  The sun finally came out today.  The trees are amazing to see but the photos I take just don't do them justice.  We have rain due this weekend so we will have just a bit more time before the leaves will be gone.  The tourists are gone and it is much more pleasant to drive around our area.  Maybe tomorrow I can get some real progress made on the pumpkins.

Just Nan Halloweens

I started this one yesterday and finished it today.  This is Just Nan's new Halloween witch mouse.  I just need to do the finishing.  Quick and easy to stitch.

Then, I can't NOT have a project going so I started this one.  It is Just Nan's pumpkin tree.  I am not sure of the name.  I will look it up for my next post.  So far we have two ghosts and one pumpkin.  I hope to get more done on this soon.

The camp?  There was a question about camp.  I am attempting to rebuild a cabin in the woods that my parents build years ago.  It is an exciting project for me.  I get very excited and animated when I speak of it.  Those that follow my blog have been warned that I will be sharing about camp as the project goes forward.
