A day in the life - -

Ok, the weather improved a bit today and I was caught sitting outside and stitching on the back porch. I also have a new hair do. I had my hair cut today. It feels so much better.
I did make some progress on my Sam Sarah design. Unfortunately I ran out of Frog Legs (the lighter green). I wrote to the designer and she will send me a bit more. I don't have this particular color in my stash. I hope to finish this tomorrow. I love the purple on the blue. Of course that is what caught my eye to begin with.

Sam Sarah - Friday Night

Well, I did get it started. I can't seem to find a lot of time to stitch. When I do stitch I mostly make mental lists of things that need to be done.

Craft Room Update and a Finish!!!

I found the missing items today and now the room is just about ready. Shelves were added and it is all full, full, full.

My desk!! I found it!! I am ready to start finishing something!!!
I did finish this early today. It isn't much to mention as far as stitching goes but I had a busy day.
My Hutch is so full!!! I am not sure what might get moved around but it is ready to go and I can find things.

Day Two 'In My Room' - and a bit of stitching

Boxes, wheeled cart and lots of stuff!!! I did find my desk late today. I have so much more to do.
Early this morning, with breakfast, I did stitch just a bit. The black outline is done and the black is in the bottom band.
My XS hutch is filling up and there is still more to do.

I AM EXHAUSTED!!! NO STITCHING HERE

ARgh!! Well, it is a start. I drag boxes to the room, empty boxes and then try to put stuff away.
The display case is already overflowing.
The hutch is about to fall through the floor!! My son is amazed and bit worried at the amount of stuff I have to put away. Things keep moving around and it will be okay. Tonight I have to stop. I can't do any more. My back is screaming and I am tired right out. I can't find my over dyed flosses (which were in shoe boxes) and there are too many books. I will try again tomorrow.

I am very happy - - Tomorrow I move in!

I took some photos of the room today. Tomorrow I will move in. The hutch now has Mary Engelbriet knobs. The curtains are up.
I hung up my afghan. My closet will be a challenge to decide what goes where. I am thinking a bulletin board over the desk and my Ultimate Daylight lamp on the end of the desk.I put the pole lamp in there. I wish my new glider rocker was ready for pick up. I want to move in and stitch here.
As you go in the double doors to the room, you will see the Nature's Home afghan.
Oh, and I stitched a bit today. This is almost done. I need to outline the letters for 'Nine' and finish the last band of stitchery.

Happy Easter Everyone

I apologize for not posting yesterday but I was busy. Here is one reason I was busy. Meet Landon, my great grand son. He had fun with the new walker going backward on my hard wood floors. It was so much fun to see him go.

I also did get some stitching done yesterday and a bit today. A Stitch In Time kit by Stitchworks and must be based on a Mary Engelbreit design. I love the way it is coming out but doing all those little flowers can get boring. We also have new living room furniture and the craft room is coming along just fine with finishing touches underway. I hope to begin moving in some time this week.

New Stash and the start of something new.....

I decided to start something new. (No more black Halloween for me!) This is a 'Stitch In Nine'. Mary Engelbreit will be a theme in the new room so this piece will be quick and will fit right in the new room when I get moved in.
Then new stash showed up. Just Nan's Emma U Elizabeth series with silk threads showed up along with Just Nan's spring humbug and the Little House Needlework's ornament Deck the Halls. There are also some spring free charts. I was so tempted to work on the humbug but I would have to find all the DMC floss and it is still in boxes. So for now - - Mary Engelbriet here I come.

Happy Dancing in Lake George!!

It is done, done, done!!!! I just put the last stitch in this project. A single color was a good choice for the crazy last 6 weeks that I have just gone through.
I also finished painting the desk. There is still tape on the floor and on the desk but the painting is done.
This is how it looks from the living room. Wow - - is that really going to be my room?
This banner is huge!! I was surprised to see the size of it. I have been working on a little bit at a time and to see it like this is amazing. I won't miss working is black. I am ready to do some real color.

Painting is underway and a bit of stitching -

Here is the XS Hutch. The little drawers are still in the dining room. I am so very happy with this. I can't wait to start filling all those drawers.
The white book case will hold my pattern binders and books. It will also be used to display stitched boxes.
I finished the leaf part and the next bar with back stitching. Next up is the LAST band which is a lot of stitching but it is the end of this project. There is light!!
Here is the closet. I am smiling as I look at today's photos. Only the desk is left to work on. Tomorrow - - the end is in sight.

Boo(2)

Well, the back stitching is done on the Boo banner part. I started in on the next leaves section. After this there is one line and the zig zag of the bottom of the banner. I must admit that I will be happy to say good bye to this project. I took the day off from painting today. The house was in major disarray and needed some attention. I feel better about 'stuff' this evening and the house looks much better. Tomorrow I can return to the paint project and hopefully it will be done this week. That would be wonderful.

Boo! and White, white, white -

I have been working on the stitching but it has been rather slow. I did finish the leaves and stuff and then I moved on to the Boo banner part. I still need to finish the back stitching around the letters and both inside and outside the box.

So what have aI really been doing - - painting!! Here is the large hutch with the white paint. In some places there are three coats of paint. The front corner is the edge of the book case which is resting on the desk right now. One more drawer for the large hutch needs another coat. The book case will need another coat. Then - - we move on to the desk/workstation. I think tomorrow might have to be a day off from painting. I am tired and need some stitching time.

A boo boo and lots of paint -

Hi Everyone. I am tired this evening. I spent the day painting the new craft room. There is so much to do and it will all need two coats. Argh. Today DH helped some. I hope to see another helper tomorrow. *hint*hint*. Meanwhile I did take a bit of a break between sessions and stitched on the banner. If you notice the upper left section has a major goof. I strayed a bit outside the lines. Yesterday I stitched this motif and then ripped it all out. So it is progress to see that I am this far. I still need to figure out how to fix that goof that still sits there.

I am not showing any photos on the Room as at this point there is very little space and the painting just continues and continues. I hope to make some major step forward tomorrow.

A Trip to my new LNS

Today Linda and I went for a drive. We went to Homespun Heart in Schnectady. That is a bit over an hour away (and two 30 cent tolls). I am happy to report that I found a few things that just had to come home with me. We have Passion des Croix's Sampler Noel, ByGone Stitches' One Nation (I have been looking at this one for months!!), Patricia Ann Designs - Spring Forget Me Nots, Stoney Creek's The Great Outdoors, and Alyma Lynn's Need Has Nothing to Do with it.

There is a Mary Engelbriet tin with a XS kit, two Lizzie Kate scissors fob (does any one have Summer? or hasn't it come out yet), Little House Garden Sampler with the needle book and pin cushion, some new gridding floss (more on that later), new scissors (pretty purple flowers - how could they not come home with me?), Waxing Moon's Bewitched (I might already have this one) and a Stitch Happy notebook. In the middle of this photo is a sparkly butterfly base that holds perle cottons while you work. Of course there is pink and purple in there.

Thanks to Linda for sharing my wonderful day. Stash shopping and a wonderful lunch out was just what I needed for a day off from house stuff. Tomorrow marks a month since we moved into the house. It has been a whirlwind of activity and lots of things to be done. It was nice to do something totally different. Now - if only my stash room was ready. To that end, tomorrow I paint.

Painting and a bit of backward stitching....

I started painting. I worked most of the afternoon on 8 drawers, 2 shelves, and 6 cabinet doors. I am working on the back sides and edges. The pretty fronts will be done last. Now they have to dry. So I am thinking that I need to do a double coat..... Argh!!
This is going backwards - - That line of stitching is 3 stitches to far to the left. Today I stitched a large part of the next band and then I removed it. Now to finish the fixing and try again. Some days I feel like I go three steps forward and two steps back.

Center done on the Halloween Banner

This afternoon I did some stitching. The carpenter has left the building. I spent some time vacuuming the craft room. The sanding is done. Painting will begin soon but for now it needs a lot of cleaning. Meanwhile - I did some stitching.

The closet organization is coming along and a bit of stitch

There are seven drawers that are topped by a cube area for Art Bins and a shelf on top.
The pumpkin is done and now I the area below the pumpkin is my main focus. I am doing the back stitching so I must be getting close to being finished with this section. Yippee.

A returned gift and our yard.

This was a needle roll by Shepherds Bush that I stitched for my Aunt. She was a third grade teacher and this was right up her alley. She was unsure what to do with the needle roll so she had it dismantled and framed. She was much happier with this. My Aunt Betty died just over a year ago and this was recently returned to me. She made a note on the back that I had given it to her in 2002.

Our yard. This was taken yesterday and even more snow is gone today. These are our woods. DH walked the perimeter yesterday and from parts of the property, you can't see the house. Oh, and we have a new friend. Harley is a black lab that is very comfortable on our back porch and visiting. Something tells me that he was able to score a few dog treats from the previous owners. Harley lives in a house off in that direction.

Another exciting day!

I did stitch today. For two days, I haven't stitched at all. Now the pumpkin is done and the leaves are coming along. I had a great day with spring weather moving in and birds in the trees. I am so happy to be here and to be able to relax a bit today.
This was my afternoon stitching nest. I plugged in the iPod, poured some pink lemonade and stitched for hours. It was wonderful.
New shelves for the back wall of the stitching room.
The shelves fit in behind the big desk. It is all coming together and it's almost done. Next up will be a lot of painting to be done. I will paint everything white. My thoughts have now turned to curtains. Something with a bit of purple perhaps.......

Lights, Camera, Action and Hiding Places

On the end of my workstation is hidden my sewing machine. In this photo you can also see the front of the workstation which will be a lighted glass encased display area.
Now you see the sewing machine. I open the doors, from underneath I can pop out the insert of top, and then raise the sewing machine. The doors open all the way back so they will be out of my way. The foor pedal will be there for my use. I am so very happy with all of this.
Here are the lights on for the display case. Never mind the dusty foot prints. Argh - - I clean and clean but the saw dust is winning at this point.
Now we have lights in the XS Hutch. These lights are true lights so I can select fabric as I put kits together. My son just thought of everything!
