Summer Breeze Continues

With a bit of finishing done, I continue to work on my main project. The empty square will be solid stitching but I decided to 'let it go' for now and continue with the verse.

Here is a short break - -

I decided to stop stitching and do some finishing. My goal is to do one thing a day. I put together the poinsettia.

A Good Start - -

I have chosen to not use the DMC floss that is specified in the Prairie Schooler chart. I am using Crescent Colours. I am also using an overdyed fabric.

Something New!!

The is Prairie Schooler's Summer Breeze. I am stitching it with Crescent Colours instead of the DMC that it called for. I have to admit that this project was kind of a UFO. I had it started to take on our October - New York trip. I had many grand ideas about how much stitching I would actually do. Anyway - - now this project is front and center and I hope it goes very quickly.

A Gift from a friend

My friend, Jeanne, made this for me at Christmas. Jeanne is a wonderful stitcher and loves to work 'over one'. I have this chart all ready to go. I might still stitch it and then I can also give it away. I thought Jeanne did a marvelous job with the finishing. I had to show both sides.

Hootzi Complete!

I added the beads and did the outlining. Then I made Mr. Hootzi. You stitch up the side and then across the top. Then you fold the little guy the other way to stitch the bottom the other way. It makes the little humbug. The finishing went quick and I just love the little guy. I am eager to see the next one.

Hootzi - continues

Well this is almost done. I still need to do the beading and to do an outline around it for finishing purposes. There is also some backstitching. It is bigger than I thought it would be. I am liking this new thing.

Hootzi Humbug by Just Nan

Here is the start of Hootzi. This is a little ornament when finished. Humbug refers to a piece of candy shaped like a pyramid. You have an owl on two sides. There are pumpkins along the bottom and leaves on the sides. I am so curious about the finishing on this one and how it will look when it is done. I am signed up for the humbug series this year. Those little holes under his beak are ready for beads. While I am thrilled to be working on fall/autumn - I am curious about this one.

Done, over, complete

Here it is!!! As I said, this is the January issue of the Hardanger club. The inside of the card is blank so I can use it for anything. I think this is great.

Hardanger Club from Nordic Needle

I joined a hardanger club with Nordic Needle. This is the January installment. I stitched it in a single afternoon and that included cutting!!! I generally don't do any cutting late in the day. I prefer to do cut work early in the day with no commitments to distract me. I love the colors. Next I need to get it in the card. What will February bring?

Dot Da Ta Da!!! The house!!

Merry Christmas!! I just put it all together. I would do it a bit different when I try it again. It was a good learning experience. All that work - - for just a little tiny house. Arghhhh.

to yours - - -

Ok - I can log this as a finish - - the cross stitch is done. Now for the more complicated part - - finishing. I am not sure when this will get done but this does have me curious. The roof was stitched on black aida fabric. If I were to do this again - - I would stitch the roof on the same fabric and use black crosses to hide the yellow fabric.

From our house - -

These little house sides are quick to stitch and don't take much to do. They are really small. I am curious how the finishing will happen and just how hard it is going to be.

Another side of it

The colors are looking strange to me. Anyway.... it was a snowman and another side to add to this house.

House construction begins

This is a Victoria Sampler house ornament. This is one side. I found this pattern in JCS 2009 issue. I have had this project ready to go for a long time. Let's see how it comes out.......

Another treasure comes home

This was also in Jack's office. Now it is on my living room couch. It was a delicate piece by Sweetheart Tree. I had all but forgotten this one.

I miss upstate!

I stitched this many years ago. It has been hanging in DH's office for many years. It just makes remember going to Warrensburg, staying at camp and Grandpa's farm. I am not sure where this will hang. It needs a new home.

Monday, January 11, 2010

Both sides are now done.

Now that I think of this - - I suppose it should say 201o. It was one of the last things I stitched in 2009 - - It makes an ornament. Where is that 'finishing fairy'? I have a huge backlog of finishing to do. Grrr.

Drawn thread's Santa Part 2

Now we have specialty stitches with buttons and beads. His one cuff is still messed up while I wait for more threads.

Drawn Thread Limited Edition 2009

Here is DT's Santa. I still think he looks like he is in a chimney. All that red is his coat with the white at the bottom being the hem. I ran out of the Whisper White thread so one cuff is short by 5 stitches. I don't have any of this thread so I had to order some more.

Santa is done

Can you believe I have this wrong? This is a Shepherd's Bush scissor fob project. I got confused. Santa now has his (candy) cane, his tree ornament and a bit of Ho HO HO. The Merry Christmas will go on the back side of the fob. I really do have to spend some time getting this finished. I think I have about ten things now just waiting for a visit to the finishing room.

Ahhh Santa

Well, Santa is coming right along. I am not sure I ever knew Santa to wear checkered pants.

Ho Ho Ho - Part 1

This is a limited edition by Drawn Thread and was special for this year. I started it. The fuzzy threads are Whisper white. I wonder if I will have enough. This was in kit form. So far so good.

Santa Arrived Just In Time

I stitched this Santa (Mill Hill Bead & Button Kit) last summer. As a Christmas present, I put it together as a easel piece.

This went to my loving son and his Significant Other. I understand that it went over very well. The finishing is not all that hard. I like this finish application because it stores easily for next year. It lays flat in a Christmas box. I really like the way it came out.

Snow Buddies - Done

A few red beads and some white snowflakes and this one is done.

Snow Buddies - Part 2

Well we have a tree and a reindeer peeking from behind. I like it! This was in 2009's JCS ornament issue, in case you are wondering.

Snow Buddies - part one

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I wish only the best for each and every one of you. Let's hope that 2010 is a much better year. I started this one after I had to special order the floss. The green in this tree is stitched with overdyed green wool. It was interesting to work with.
