Happy Halloween!

The finishing frenzy continues at my house. I made a stand up for the purple Trick or Treat project. I used some really cool Halloween fabric for the underside and the back. I made sure that the little piece at the bottom holding it all together was a strip of purple. This took me some time but I really like it.

Halloween Finishing

I spent the afternoon doing some finishing. I put together the Just Nan Over the Top Boo tin and the tiny needle book that fits inside. Then I put the PS Night Owl together in an ornament. I used a bit of yarn to do the edging and the hanger. I think they all came out great. I have even more finishing to do. Arghhhhhh.

PS Night Owl

This year I was able to do a bit of stitching while at the Stitch In. (Imagine that?) I don't generally get anything stitched while there. I took my main project but couldn't get comfortable with the scroll bars. Just in case, I took a smaller project that I thought might be okay to work on. This is a Prairie Schooler Night Owl from the Halloween ornament issue. It was fun and easy. My version is quite different from the original chart. I won't point out the errors but trust me when I say that my ornament is my own. LOL. I did stitch it over one. I don't know why I don't do more stitching over one because I do love it.

Thank you Meri

I was lucky to have a Halloween ornament from my friend, Meri. She designs scissor ornaments for lots of different things. I will post photos of the front and back. The front has the year 2008 on it and Meri's name. There are scissors and an angel dressed in fall leaves. I think it is absolutely beautiful. There is a charm at the bottom of the front and two gold leaves at the bottom on the back. The backing has a large gold leaf on the material. Meri used a fluffy brown yard to decorate the edges and to make the hanger loop. I am thrilled and just wanted to share.

Halloween Ornament Exchange

As part of our fall Stitch In, I organized a Halloween ornament exchange. To display the results I took a black foam core board and hung the various ornaments. Two were made to display on a flat surface so we put those at the bottom. The Trick or Treat one is fun. Trick on one side and Treat on the other.

Happy Stitch In News

We held our annual Stitch In this weekend. It always amazes me how many people come and stitch. As always the food was fantastic. I never eat Krispy Kremes during the year but on this special weekend lots of wonderful treats are available. Then there is Cola Cake, Gooey Butter Cake, Comfort Cake, brownies, fudge, carmel corn and oh we do eat meals - sort of. Think of it as a weekend PJ party for stitchers. We have so much fun. I am so blessed to have so many friends and to be able to share this weekend. This year the door prizes and grab bags were also fantastic. I will post a photo of the loot I came home with. Socks, bag, frame, cocoa, quilted coasters, floss, journals, pens and a wand - - just to mention a few. It was so much fun. I won a chart from Stitches, Etc that is named, My Best Friend. - - several people suggested that next year I stitch enough of those for everyone. (Yeah - - right! Well actually it is a wonderful idea and I wish I could do that.) It is wonderful to share with fellow stitchers. Now I need a nap.

Scream House begins - - -

This is the front door for the Just Nan Scream house. As you can see - - it is full of ghosts and goblins. There are 18 separate pieces to stitch before we begin putting it together. It would be great to finish by Halloween but I just don't know if that can happen. I am off to our annual Stitch In weekend (three day PJ party) and I doubt I will get much stitching done.

Frost on the Pumpkin

I stitched this one afternoon last week. You just have to love the WhimZi frame series by Just Nan. They are quick to stitch and so easy to finish. This was a 'limited edition' release from last year? Now it is being released again. I am a bit confused. I had the chart on my purchase list when I found it already in my stash. Go figure. I do love the purple vest!

Pumpkins, Halloween and more

I have been working on Halloween a lot lately. These two pieces are from Just Nan and are the Boo Over the Top tin topper and the needle book that goes inside. I hope to get the actual finishing done soon. I already made the twisted cord.

As a side note - - I started the Just Nan Scream house. This is 18 little pieces to stitch before you try to put them together. It should be a SCREAM!!!! Wahhhhhh Ahhhhhh Ohhhhh Ahhhh.

More Christmas

This is another model I stitched for Prairie Grove Peddler. This ornament design done on black should go very well with another Christmas chart she did on black. I stitched the main design and then I made a needleroll and an ornament.

PG Peddler

This is a model I stitched some time ago. Cheryl of Prairie Grove Peddler has now released for the upcoming holiday season. I love the stockings because they look so precious. Cheryl also did this design as an applique quilt. Please check it out at http://www.prairiegrovepeddler.com/index.html

I am on a roll!!!!

Meet LeScarrot by Just Nan. This is a Halloween ornament. It was a quick stitch and the finishing wasn't bad at all. I love the green hair. It was fun to do. On his back side, it says Boo!!!! Don't you just love the teeth? Gee - - what is next?

Another Finish!!!!!!

Halloween is on my agenda. I started this design just last week at our monthly stitcher's meeting. It is called Halloween Silhouette by Raise The Roof. It was a market kit from the recent St. Charles market. Of course - - I had to have purple. I hope the color comes through here because it is ever so wonderful. The kit was short on the black color. I just happen to have more so I was able to finish it today.

DH says that line two is incorrect. It should read "Smell my feet"........ the memories of childhood. Ahhhhhh.

Done, Complete, Fin-neat-to!!!!!

Today, as I recover from a pulled tooth (I busted it last week), I finished Summer. I worked most of yesterday and all of today doing the back stitching in the lower left corner. I will post a complete photo and a close up on the involved area. On large projects I like to date and place my initials. So the post mark in the lower left corner has the year 2008 in it (instead of 2001) and I put my initials on the cruise liner. I write this here because I know I put these things on other projects but years later - - even I can't find them. LOL.

This has been a very long project. I know I suspended it several times for other projects. I know that I have done some other fairly large projects this year. I am glad this one is done, marked in my spread sheet and ready to get framed. I plan on working on some smaller things in the immediate future.

Happy stitching everyone.

XS Done!!!

I have hit another milestone on the Summer project. Last night I completed the cross stitch part of the project. That means I have a ton of backstitching to do. I am very eager to have this one completed. I am already thinking of what to work on next. Halloween is calling my name.

Happy Halloween from Canada

Yesterday I received a package from Bonnie in Canada. We had arranged to exchange Halloween ornaments. I sent her the bumpkin with the purple hat and she sent me a purple ornament with a pumpkin. Perhaps we both like purple? How wonderful is that? Even the back is stitched! I love the little bat charm.

The work continues....

I continue to work on Summer. We have been busy with visiting family but I was able to get a bit of stitching done. Just one more corner to do!!!!! I am happy to have the flowers under the bee hive done. Confetti stitching has never been a favorite of mine. The ugly blue luggage is interesting. I have another strap to do. There is a lot of backstitching waiting for me. Oh - -the pigs on the banding should be interesting. Very cute.

Mail art has arrived

Saturday I received a mail art from the Netherlands. The theme was Christmas in September. Marie did Away In The Manger. This envelope seems to have traveled a lot over the last couple of weeks. I think the zip code was wrong and someone blacked it out and then it went in a plastic bag with the correct zip code on the bag. I am happy that it arrived safe and sound.
